Early concept work for Star Wars.
Han Solo (with the lightsaber), a female version of Luke, Chewbacca and the droids.
After completing the second draft, Lucas contemplated changing Luke into a girl, possibly because of the lack of any important female characters in this verrsion. This change was eventually not adopted and Leia was reintroduced as a major character in the third draft.
via starwars.wikia You can read on this page the summary of the second draft of the script untitled: The ‘Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars’

Rejected Star Wars Toys: George Lucas is denying you an inflatable Emperor’s Throne!
Four years ago, John Geyer from Action Figure Insider blew the lid of the Star Warsmerchandising world by displaying a collection of rejected but glorious Star Warstoys. And now he’s back, with even more interesting and awesome Luke and Leia tie-ins that never made it into our homes.
Take a look at the insane Star Wars merch that could have been.
Long, long ago, Geyer and his co-workers were tasked with coming up with Star Warsmerchandise for Episode One, without ever getting to see the movie first (they would later attend an early screening but during the very early development phase it was all blind). With the sky as the limit, Geyer and his crew pitched hundreds of ideas for new Star Wars toys and clever Pepsi tie-ins. What you’re looking at now is a collection of the rejected toy concept art, some of which is pretty spectacular — and just a darn shame that we all don’t have an inflatable Emperor’s Throne.
And just in case you didn’t see the old rejected toys we threw in some of our past favorites from 2008 (Bantha slippers!) at the bottom!

Scientists About to Find The Force
If confirmed next week, this will be the biggest news in the history of physics since the birth of the Theory of Relativity: CERN scientists may have already found evidence of the existence of the elusive Higgs boson. THE FORCE, dudes.
A respected scientist from the Cern particle physics laboratory has told the BBC he expects to see “the first glimpse” of the Higgs boson next week.
